The Portuguese Foundation, Inc. has selected Sonia Alves of West Hartford, Connecticut, to receive a scholarship award. Sonia is a graduate of Hall High School and is a freshman at the University of Connecticut majoring in nursing. She is the daughter of Maria T. Rodrigues of West Hartford, Connecticut. Her family traces its ancestry to Couto, Caldas da Rainha, Portugal.

MANUEL BATISTA, JR.

The Portuguese Foundation, Inc. has selected Manuel Batista, Jr. of Shelton, Connecticut, to receive a scholarship award. Manuel is a senior at Shelton High School and plans to enroll in college this fall to study computer science. Manuel is the son of Manuel and Gloria Batista. The Batista family traces its ancestry to Arcos, Portugal.

DANNY T. CARREIRA

The Portuguese Foundation, Inc. has selected Danny T. Carreira of West Hartford, Connecticut, to receive a scholarship award. Danny is a graduate of Hartford High School and attends Valencia College pursuing an associates in arts degree. Danny is the son of Isabel Carreira of West Hartford. The Carreira family traces its ancestry to Rio Seco, Beira Baixa, Portugal.

MARY daCUNHA

The Portuguese Foundation, Inc. has selected Mary daCunha of Wethersfield, Connecticut, to receive a scholarship award. Maria is a senior at Wethersfield High School and plans to enroll in college in the fall. She is the daughter of Thomas and Maria daCunha of Wethersfield, Connecticut. The daCunha family traces its Portugal.

MIAH MEDEIROS

The Portuguese Foundation, Inc. has selected Miah Medeiros of Pawcatuck, Connecticut, to receive a scholarship award. Miah is a senior at Stonington High School and plans to enroll in college this fall to study architectural engineering technology. Miah is the daughter of Timothy and Susan Medeiros. The Medeiros family traces its ancestry to Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal.

NATERCIA RODRIGUES

The Portuguese Foundation, Inc. has selected Natercia Rodrigues of East Hartford, Connecticut, to receive a scholarship award. Natercia is a graduate of East Hartford High School and is a sophomore at Mount Holyoke College with a double major of biochemistry and French. She plans a career in internal medicine and oncology. She is the daughter of Eduardo and Maria Rodrigues of East Hartford, Connecticut and the family traces its ancestry to Cunha Alta and Moitas-Venda, Portugal.

SANDRA SANTOS

The Portuguese Foundation, Inc. has selected Sandra Santos of Newington, Connecticut, to receive a scholarship award. Sandra is senior at Newington High School and plans to attend college in the fall to earn a degree in nursing. She is the daughter of Antonio and Catherine Santos and the family traces its ancestry to Guarda, Portugal.

LUISA VAZ

The Portuguese Foundation, Inc. has selected Luisa Vaz of Shelton, Connecticut, to receive a scholarship award. Luisa is a graduate of Shelton High School and is a sophomore at Sacred Heart University where she majors in psychology. She is the daughter of Domingos and Maria Vaz and the family traces its ancestry to Montalegre, Portugal.
