SONIA ALVES
The Portuguese Foundation, Inc. has selected Sonia Alves of West Hartford, Connecticut, to receive a
scholarship award. Sonia is a graduate of Hall High School in West Hartford, Connecticut and is a sophomore at the
University of Connecticut majoring in nursing. She is the daughter of Maria T. Rodrigues of West Hartford, Connecticut.
Her family traces its ancestry to Couto, Caldas da Rainha, Portugal.

KATIE ANN DaCOSTA
The Portuguese Foundation, Inc. has selected Katie Ann DaCosta of South Windsor, Connecticut, to receive
a scholarship award. Katie is a graduate of Bulkeley High School in Hartford, Connecticut and is a sophomore at Central
Connecticut State University majoring in business management. Katie is the daughter of Armando DaCosta. The DaCosta
family traces its ancestry to Minho, Portugal.

CRYSTAL FERNANDES
The Portuguese Foundation, Inc. has selected Crystal Fernandes of Naugatuck, Connecticut, to receive a
scholarship award. Crystal is a senior at Naugatuck High School and plans to enroll in college in the fall, majoring in
English. She is the daughter of Artur and Hilda Fernandes of Naugatuck, Connecticut. The Fernandes family traces its
ancestry to Murtosa, Portugal.

SARAH PACHECO
The Portuguese Foundation, Inc. has selected Sarah Pacheco of Ashford, Connecticut, to receive a
scholarship award. Sarah graduated from E.O. Smith High School in Storrs, Connecticut and currently attends Pratt
Institute in New York majoring in fashion design. The Pacheco family traces its ancestry to Portugal.

AMANDA SILVERIO
The Portuguese Foundation, Inc. has selected Amanda Silverio of Danbury, Connecticut, to receive a
scholarship award. Amanda is a senior at Danbury High School and plans to enroll in college this fall, majoring in
biology. She plans a career as a physician. Amanda is the daughter of Antonio and Teresa Silverio and her family traces
its ancestry to Ribamondego, Gouveia, Portugal.
