Malfalda is the daughter of Manuel and Maria Barbicas of Wethersfield, Connecticut. The Barbicas family traces its ancestry to Campo Maior, Alto Alentejo, Portugal. Jennifer Costa
Jennifer is the daughter of Eduardo and Ada Costa of Newington, Connecticut. The Costa family traces its ancestry to Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal. Claudia Ferreira
Claudia is the daughter of Jose and Maria Ferreira and was born in Bustelo, Portugal. |
The Portuguese Foundation, Inc. has selected Malfalda Barbicas
of Wethersfield, Connecticut, to receive a scholarship award. Mafalda is a freshman
at Central Connecticut State University and is enrolled in the school of Education
Study. Malfalda is a member of the Rancho Folclorico of the Portuguese Club of
Hartford and has volunteered her time in the office of the Our Lady of Fatima
Church of Hartford.
The Portuguese Foundation, Inc. has selected Jennifer Costa of Newington, Connecticut,
to receive a scholarship award. She is a senior at Newington High School and plans
to attend college in the fall of 2002, where she will study accounting. Jennifer is an altar
server at the Our Lady of Fatima Church of Hartford. She is a member of the Holy
Ghost Portuguese Society, where she was Queen in a religious procession in the
summer of 2001.
The Portuguese Foundation, Inc. has selected Claudia Ferriera of Wallingford, Connecticut,
to receive a scholarship award. Claudia is a senior at Lyman Hall High School and
plans to enroll in college this fall and major in Portuguese Culture and Language.
She has volunteered her time at various social events at the Portuguese American
Club in Wallingford.
