Cristina Goncalves

The Portuguese Foundation, Inc. has selected Cristina Goncalves of Wethersfield, Connecticut, to receive a scholarship award. Cristina is a senior at Wethersfield High School and plans to enroll in college this fall to study in the field of criminology. She has volunteered her time at the United Way and has received a letter and number in cheerleading while maintaining honors in her grades.

Cristina is the daughter of Cecilia Goncalves and Jose C. Goncalves. The Goncalves family traces its ancestry to Portugal.

Paul Luis

The Portuguese Foundation, Inc. has selected Paul Luis of Bridgeport, Connecticut, to receive a scholarship award. Paul is a freshman at Eastern Connecticut State University and is majoring in pre-education. He is a member of the Folclorico group, Recordacoes de Portugal and volunteers at his church.

Paul is the son of Miguel and Maria Luis. The Luis family traces its ancestry to Ribeira de Palheiros and Marquiteira, Portugal.

Luisa Vaz

The Portuguese Foundation, Inc. has selected Luisa Vaz of Shelton, Connecticut, to receive a scholarship award. Luisa is a senior at Shelton High School. She plans to attend college in the fall and study psychology and English. Amongst her many extra curricular activities are volunteering her time at a soup kitchen and at a convent, where she read to elderly nuns. She is currently ranked fourth in her class.

Luisa is the daughter of Domingos and Maria Vaz. The Vaz family traces its ancestry to Montalegre, Portugal.
