João is a senior at the Connecticut International Baccalaureate Academy of East Hartford, Connecticut and plans to attend college in the fall. He is the son of Luisa Cordeiro of Hartford, Connecticut. João was born in Portugal.

PAULA SIMONE FREITAS

The Portuguese Foundation, Inc. has selected Paula Simone Freitas of Naugatuck, Connecticut, to receive a scholarship award. Paula is attending Western New England College School of Law in Springfield, Massachusetts. She graduated from the University of New Haven in 2000 and studied at the University of Lisbon in 2002-03. She is the daughter of José D. Freitas and Maria De Jesus Freitas. The Freitas family traces its ancestry to Freixianda, Portugal.

MICHELLE E. LABBE

The Portuguese Foundation, Inc. has selected Michelle E. Labbe of Terryville, Connecticut, to receive a scholarship award. Michelle is a senior at Terryville High School and plans to attend college in the fall. She is the daughter of Sara Maria da Silva Gaspar Labbe of Terryville, Connecticut. Michelle's family traces its ancestry to São Tiago de Riba Ul, Portugal.

CYNTHIA MARTINS

The Portuguese Foundation, Inc. has selected Cynthia Martins of Wallingford, Connecticut, to receive a scholarship award. Cynthia is a senior at Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford and plans to attend college in the fall to obtain a nursing degree. She is the daughter of Natividade Martins of Wallingford, Connecticut. Cynthia's family traces its ancestry to Chaves, Portugal.
